I have had missions on my heart ever since I can remember! In first grade, I had to make a poster describing things about myself and one of the sections asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I automatically wrote missionary in the big box; along with a really crap drawing of the world (come on, I was only 6) because I wanted to tell literally everyone about how cool this Jesus dude is!

I finally let my true colors shine when I went on my first out of country (legit) mission trip to Mexico with my dearly loved friends from my youth group. The children toyed with my heart through their never ending love and acceptance. Through those children, God worked in my heart to love even the not so fabulous parts of being in the mission field...like not taking showers!

So I decided to take this mission trip business to the next level and go out of my comfort zone by giving part of my summer towards people who really need it. The result was this Guatemala mission trip and this is how the planning stages went down: I'm not gonna steal any of Brennan's thunder cause it was completely his idea that he and I go on a mission trip together this summer. Don't get me wrong, I had wanted to go on a mission trip but I wasn't so sure it was going to be with Brennan. When I finally put two and two together, we (as in me, brennan and heather...yes the blob is growing with more and more people!!) looked around at different trips we could go on and Guatemala sounded like the "pefect" trip for us.

I know God has big plans for me so I want to try and listen to whatever He wants me to do. I'm taking a leap of faith in trusting that this Guatemala trip with epically change the way I look at missions for God. Or at least, I will learn so much about the world that I will be a more mature person in my relationships with people and with God.
